We began our new sermon series through Revelation 1-5 looking at Revelation 1:1-8. While the book of Revelation may seem mysterious because of its many visions and symbols, it shows us that God sovereignly rules through His son Jesus Christ, and that He is coming soon to make all things right. As it is named, we learn that Revelation is a letter and prophecy revealing the things that will soon take place. With a reliable trail and reliable witness in the Apostle John, we can read through this letter with great confidence - knowing the great blessing that comes from hearing about the sure future and by keeping it in our hearts. We also saw how we have received grace and peace from the triune and everlasting God; this provides assurance for life right now, and future hope that He will not abandon His people and church. Our response to Jesus now will either lead to joy and blessing, or tears and suffering forever. Let us strive in keeping and living the truth of King Jesus’ return - for He is coming soon in all glory and power.
