This past Sunday, we had the privilege to listen to God’s word preached by one of our deacons, Leandro Ambrosio. As we continued in our sermon series, we were brought through Romans 5:12-21 to explore two relationships that define the destiny of humanity. Paul contrasts mankind’s connection to two key persons. Firstly, mankind possesses a natural connection with Adam, the first man. Through Adam’s disobedience, sin entered the world and death spread to all humanity. Mankind is not just affected by Adam’s sin, but are participants in it. While we see that our connection to Adam brings ruin and condemnation, Paul points us to a greater Man who brings redemption and salvation. Jesus is the True Adam whose perfect obedience brings grace and life. Jesus’ work on the cross doesn’t just reverse Adam’s curse, but goes even further in completely overpowering sin and defeating death. As sinners destined for death, come to Jesus to find overflowing grace and live under Christ’s righteous reign.
