In our final Sunday sermon of 2024, we continued with our Christmas series looking at John 13:1-17. Here we see how Jesus came to show us true love. Through the deeply personal and lowly act of washing of His disciples’ feet, we see the depths of Jesus’ love. This extraordinary act of love and service points us toward His greatest act of service, where Jesus Christ - the Son of God, full of authority - goes to the degrading cross, to suffer, die, and give His life for our sins. As Jesus washes the feet of His disciples, we see how Jesus alone can wash our sins by His blood, make us clean, and reconcile us as His people. Jesus’ act of loving service also gives us an example to follow: to love deeply as Jesus loved. Come experience the depths of Christ’s personal love shown on the cross and be cleansed from all sin and unrighteousness. Let us also love others sacrificially and in humility, as Christ first loved us.
